Cancer takes things from you. Pieces that can be felt with the tips of your fingers, or even the tip of your tongue. But there are things it can’t take – your joy, the love for your family, the wonder of open space. And certainly not the sheer determination to hold on to life and the large and small things that make up its fabric.

Cancer changes what people can see and what they can’t. It shapes you. Yet you still remain what you are, who you are. You grab onto the railing and lift yourself up and over the disease. Your heart still beats.
