I grew up around these types of presses while learning the crafts of printing and publishing after I left school. I wanted to write – but somehow fell hopelessly in love with the physicals of type and the machines that realized their impressions.

If you want to know what print means to me, listen to this man describe what he does.

Both he, and the people in his shop, are the grandchildren of the people that taught me. Does my heart good to see them restore and turn those presses, lifting the sheets from the printing bed as they’re finished. Good work is being done.
