Peter Goldmark explores the new marriage contract:
E-nups are agreements couples make before or during a marriage or relationship to regulate circumstances in which they will use cellphones, iPads, laptops, etc.
The need for an e-nup arises out of a couple’s search for a strong interpersonal relationship and a life of shared meaning…
…parts of the document propose flat restrictions on when electronic instruments can be used:
“We will not engage with our phones or work on our laptops at all in the following circumstances . . .
During meals together
When spending intentional time together (e.g., taking a walk, going to an event together, cuddling in bed)
When our daughter is present
During movies, plays, etc.
In social situations (i.e., with a group of friends)
In a confined space with others, even if it’s “default time” (i.e., car, public transportation, elevator, etc.)”
…Zoe and Kenny have been working on this agreement for nearly a year and are on their fourth draft. One of the other women I spoke with said she and her husband were considering making their agreement legally binding.
There…feel better now?

i agree with Andrew, this should be common sense, not limited to your future spouse but to the people you interact with and care about. what about when you are with family & friends: it´s very annoying to have a phone going off and someone talking on the phone all the time… or checking their emails, whatsapps, sms… while you are trying to have a conversation.
It should be common sense, but having a e-nup is going a little too far…hmmmm or maybe the solution for those with no common sense or manners, then again, why would you want to marry them… 😉

My plan is to dust off both my cameras this weekend – even though winter just isn’t giving up easy, we’ve got some green shoots and bulbs breaking thru. Will definitely try the RAW format – thanks for the article. I don’t mind a little hand holding… 🙂
As for your comment to Andrew’s comment – responding to technology has just become a way of life. Shame that an email will demand more attention from someone than the person sitting across the table from them. We’re all a bit guilty…some more than others… 🙂

Seems like I helped further the discussion! BTW, I also generally shoot in raw in case I need to play with my photos.

Heck – discussion is always welcome here! Especially about words and images! Would love to see some of your photos posted on your blog Andrew. And take some time to visit Relative Imperfection – lovely use of color. Very dramatic and inspiring!

So, did you finally dust off those cameras?
I’ve kept busy with work and a photography workshop.
We had a “phoneholic” amongst us! Poor chap, he just couldn’t simply enjoy the here and the now completely… It was all work related, but still very annoying… 😏 should i have maybe made him sign an e-agree!!! Lol!
Andrew, let us now if you put up pics. Editing is so much fun!
Jeff, thank you so much for your kind words! 😊😊😊

Have put my blog in semi-hibernation for the moment but will keep pictures in mind should I reactivate.

There is that moment, because of event or circumstance, we seem only to be focused on one event, or one impression. But eventually we come to some understanding that the one event doesn’t entirely define us. We’re much more than that and have more to offer ourselves if not each other. You’ve shown great determination, insight, intelligence, and creativity. I hope we’ll see more of you as time goes on!

I did finally get those cameras out amongst the living. Took a walk thru a local village and one of the shots you commented on – gettin some gas -came out of it. Didn’t get that chance to shoot RAW since I didn’t set up the camera properly. But took that shot and tried some layer and contrast tricks. Second version is up at Flickr – gas2.. Didn’t come quite come up to the level of yours! But then again, you’ve given me some good incentive and tips to to keep trying! Looking forward to seeing more from both you and Andrew!
