…and where will you be reading this weekend?

Will be heading north again this weekend up into the dramatically changing Hudson Valley. I’ll be bringing along poet Mary Ruefle’s Madness, Rack, and Honey, a collection of essays, history, literature, and writings about poetry. But not just about that. As she offers in her title essay, “I don’t know where to begin because I have nothing to say, yet I know that before long I will sound as if I’m on a crusade.”

And as part of my lifelong self-awareness and weight reduction campaign, I’ll also be leafing thru Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath. Motivated by an early discovery of a rare tumor-causing disease, he delves into the research and practical application of simple rules that he successfully uses to increase the quality and length of his life. They’re noble and well known guidelines – eat fresh food, sleep more, get out from in front of the screen. Although labeled a motivational author, he seems more like a sincere counselor offering his thoughts, reasonings, and suggestions. As always, the rest is up to you.

Onward we go!
